Barn Find Mustangs are Still Out There!
For anyone who believes all the barn finds have already been discovered, I’m here to tell you they are still out there.
In June 2019 I decided it was time to look for my next project car. But not just any project car, no I wanted to recapture the car I had when I graduated high school…a 1969 Mustang Mach 1.
So I began by searching the usual places like Hemmings Motor News, Bring a Trailer, eBay and Craigslist ads. I soon realized two things, these cars were now commanding a premium that would of have been unheard of when I graduated high school in 1985 and what was now being passed off as project cars were often little more than a shell.
Undeterred, I continue my search and low and behold in August of 2019 I found a rather generic Craigslist ad in Los Angeles for a 1969 Mustang fastback. I called and spoke with the seller who by his own admission didn’t know too much about the car other than it was a client’s car and was very solid.
This blog will document the discovery of this true barn find and how it is being restored. Keep coming back and follow along as we return this forgotten muscle car back to the way it was on the day it was first purchased in 1969. We will be following the standards set by the Mustang Club of America for a concours restoration.
